Saif & Deepika’s much awaited film “Cocktail” is scheduled to release in July 2012.

Although the official release of the album is next week, a few of the songs were open for broadcast and also went live on youtube, about two weeks back.

The music has been composed by Pritam and this time again he seems to have done a great job with the album. The album also comprises of some songs that were originally released in private albums by their composers/ singers.

“Tumhi Ho Bandhu”, sung by Neeraj Sridhar & Kavita Seth has been creating waves all accros the internet. So far, the official video has over 2.5 million hits.

The song is a peppy dance/ club number with variations created by Kavita Seth’s sufi voice texture.

Nicely gelled into electronic beats and on top of that Neeraj Sridhar with his peculiar singing style.

“Tumhi ho bandhu” is originally a traditional/ devotional song of which, Pritam has been successful in using the hook in the ‘just so right’ manner.

The song would have a shelf-life of approximately 2 months according to me.

"Daaru Desi" sung by Benny Dayal and Shalmali Kholgade, has a groovy beat & catchy melody to it.

The duo of Irshad Kamil & Pritam has done wonders another time. The song talks about being high on friendship.

The video also seems to be impressive.

However I would not rate it as much as I would rate the “Tumhi Ho Bandhu” song from the film.

The shelf-life would be two to three weeks after the Film release.

 “Angreji Beat” was originally released by Honey Singh & Gippy Grewal about 6 months back as a part of the private Punjabi album “International Vilager”.

The song is peppy with nice Punjabi lyrics. One of the hits across Punjab , its now been adapted in the movie. The original video for the song is also worth a look.

I would say that the song had already reached towards the tail end of its shelf-life, but now being a part of this album has extended its life by another month or two.

Overall, a well crafted album  with well selected melodies, variety, sound and versatility.  

Should prove to be yet another hit for Pritam.
